Adikumbeshwara Temple



Sri Adikumbeshwara Temple is located in Kumbakonam in the state of Tamil Nadu. This temple is very large and one of the oldest temple in Kumbakonam. Lord Shiva is known here as Kumbeshwarar and his wife Parvathi is known here as Mangalambigai. The temple’s main gopuram is 128 ft long and in Navaratri mandapam you can see 27 stars and 12 zodiac signs been carved out of a single block stone. This temple opens 5.30 early in the morning and stays open till 12.00 in noon. Then temple reopens after 4.00 in the evening and stays open till 8.00 in the night. This temple is located in the center of the city. You can see Mahamakham Tank nearby the temple and famous Mahamakham festival takes place every once 12 years, where lots and lots of people gather here during this festival.
