Vadivudai Amman Temple



Vadivudai Amman Temple is located in Tiruvottiyur, Chennai in the state of Tamil Nadu. This main deity of this temple is Lord Shiva. The main lord Shiva is made up of mud mound and they cover the statue with armor. The temple priests perform special pooja to this and remove the armor only in the month of Karthigai. The temple area is very big and there are several other deities present in the same temple. You can see 27 Shiva lingams representing the stars of the Tamil calendar. The main goddess is called as Vadivudaiamman and she is present in a separate shrine inside the temple.
