Ucchi Pillayar Temple



Ucchi Pillayar is located in Tiruchirapalli in the state of Tamil Nadu. The main deity in this temple is Lord Vinayagar. According to hindus every one pray to Lord Vinayagar before they start anything for a better and positive result. In this temple you can see two Vinayagar one in bottom named “manicka Vinayagar” and in the top of the hill you can see “uchi pillayar”. First you should pray to “manicka Vinayagar” in the bottom and then you need to take the steps to reach the next shrine where you can find lord Shiva known here as “Thayumanavar”. In this shrine devotees pray for pregnancy and after devotees give birth to a child, they offer a banana thar to lord Shiva where temple priest will hang them and give as nevidiyam then the devotees will donate individual bananas to other devotes. Then after seeing lord Shiva you can see goddess parvathi. Then you should again walk upwards to reach the top of the hill to have the holy sight of Lord Ucchi Pillayar. After having the darshan you can enjoy a majestic view of the city from three directions and the air breeze will be so good where you mind will come to a peaceful state. You can see another way where the elephant will carry water for Lord “Ucchi Pillayar” and it is known as “yana pathai” means elephant way. Ucchi Pillayar temple is surrounded by bazaar where all the shopkeepers will come to this temple every morning and pray to god before opening their shops.
