Kanchi Kamatchi Temple



Kanchi Kamatchi temple is located in the city of kanchipuram. The temple is also known as Adi Peeteswari where the Goddess Kamatchi is in one of the form of Parvathi. The main deity of this temple is Goddess kamatchi. The place where the Goddess stay is called as “Gayatri Mandapam”in this temple as she lives in three forms. The Goddess name Kamatchi is derived by signifying Goddess Saraswati and Lakshmi that resides in both of her eyes. This temple implies the Goddess in the form of Shakti. The specialty of this temple is there is another shrine where “Adivaraha Perumal is located which is one of the 108 Divya Desam. The temple became famous as it was visited by a dumb devotee named Mookan and prayed to god to get relieve from his dumbness as the Goddess is very graceful heard the devotees prayers and made him to get rid of his dumbness and blessed him to become as a poet. The important festival celebrated in this temple is in the Tamil calendar month of Maasi where it has ther and theppam festivals are conducted. The other auspicious festivals are Navaratri, Aadi, Vasantha Utsavam, Brahmotsavam and it considered to be powerful to visit the temple in one of these day or on Full moon day and also in Friday which is always special for Lakshmi. The kungumam prasadam is very famous in this temple. The devotees who visit the temple can be blessed with babies who are childless couples and also with good wealth the Goddess have the power to destroy all evils and bless her devotees and the whole world with all goodness and prosperity.
