Vaitheeswaran Temple

Vaitheeswaran temple is located in Chidambaram in the state of Tamil Nadu. The main deity of this temple is Lord Shiva called as Vaitheeswaran here known as God of Healing of diseases and it is also one of the Paadal Petra sthalam. Vaitheeswaran temple is one among the famous nine navagraha temple as it denotes the planet Mars. The specialty of this temple is Holy water tank situated inside the temple as this water is used for curing diseases. The devotees of this temple who visits here first have to get dip in the holy water and then have to worship the Lord Vaitheeswaran to get rid of all health problems and diseases. In healing certain diseases jaggery, salt, pepper, and sandalwood powder is treated as medicine for curing many wounds. The thiruchandu urandai covered with vibhuti is treated as medicine for curing diseases. Another specialty of this temple is Naadi Astrology where the fate of a person is determined by reading the nerve palms of the person. The main festival celebrated in this temple is Brahmotsavam which falls in the Tamil month calendar Pankuni and Thai and also Karthigai festival in the month of November. The devotees of this temple after getting cured of diseases offer silver plated human organs to temple and get blessing of god.
