Kalahasti Temple


Kalahasti temple is located in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. This temple is 36 Kms away from Tirupati. This temple is one among the Pancha bootha temples. This temple symbolizes Air form. The main deity of this temple is lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is known as Srikalahasthiswara and his wife parvathi is debited as Gnana Prasunambika Devi. This temple is also associated with Rahu and Kethu, people who have Rahu kethu dosha in their horoscope visit this temple and perform a special pooja for a better life. People from various parts of the world come here to perform Rahu-Kethu Sarpa Dosha Nivarana pooja. All the abhishekam like presenting flowers, milk, water and camphor is done only to uchavar idol and the main lingam remains untouched by human hands.The specialty of this temple is celebrating the festival named “Maha shivaratri” which falls in the tamil of Maasi that is from Feb15/Mar 15th It is a 12 day festival where the fifth day of this festival is the day of Maha Shivaratri and lakhs of  people from different place will come here to worship Lord Shiva to  perform special pooja and offer prayers to get blessing from god. The another  importance of this temple is that where all the temples will be closed during the time of eclipse but in Kalahasti temple  it will be open and special abhishekam pooja is conducted for Lord Shiva during this time.
