Tiruverkadu is located in Chennai
and it is famously known as “Devi Karumariamman” in this temple. The main deity
of this temple is Goddess karumariamman. The specialty of this temple is when
the pooja is conducted the first one will be performed only to Lord Vinayagar as
he has done abishekam to Goddess Karumariamman in holy water using his
valampuri and Goddess Karumariamman also requested thirumal to stay in the form
of Srinivasan and to protect her devotees who come there and worship the
navagraha in this temple. The Lord Srinivasan and Karumariamman are seated
together to bless her devotees. The Goddess has also blessed the Sun to give
rays twice in a year in the month of Panguni and Purattasi. In this temple
Sunday is treated as the auspicious day or Karumariamman where the devotes used
to come to this temple and do night stay and perform special pooja and prayer
to god. The prasadam given in the main shrine of Karumariamman like vibuthi and
Kungumam is considered to be powerful. The important festivals celebrated in
this temple is Brahmmotsavam in the Tamil calendar month of Thai the last 3
days are very special as they have theppa utchavam, Thaipoosa and Poornima
pooja are conducted for the devotees they have special and free Darshan for the
poojas performed in this temple. Masi Magam is very famous as the Goddess is taken
to beach to have her bath. The Aadi festival is celebrated in a grand manner as
this month is dedicated to Amman. The other festivals celebrated in this temple
is Garuda seva, Navaratri festival, and common feast. In this Karumariamman
temple auspicious functions like marriage is also conducted in special mandapam. The
devotees who visit this temple with faith will be blessed with good life.
