Swamimalai Temple

Swamimalai temple is located in Kumbakonam in the state of Tamil Nadu. This temple is one among the arupadai veedu. This is the fourth arupadai veedu of lord Murugan. Here lord Murugan is called as “Swaminatha Swami”. The temple has sixty steps and has three gopurams. Legend says, lord Shiva arrested Lord Brahma for not answering about Pranava mantra. Lord Murugan expressed lord Shiva that he knew the meaning but he said that he will let him know only when he accepts him as guru. Lord Shiva agreed to him and accepted him as guru and got the explanation from Lord Murugan. Based on this incident you can see Lord Muruga’s shrine in top and you can see lord Shiva’s shire a bit below to Lord Murugan shrine.
