Marundeeswara temple is located
in thiruvanmiyur, Chennai and the main deity of the temple is lord shiva. People
with various diseases and health problems come here to get blessings. During 11th
century the chola kings widely expanded the temple. Even the great epic writer
Valmiki visited the temple and got his blessings here.This
temple is also one among the 275 Paadal petra sthalms,
where the temple was glorified with the golden verses of Nayanars, Appar and
Sambandar.In
Marudeeshwarar temple a mandapam has been built named Thirumurai where
for past 11 yrs thirumurais are sung in this temple. Lord shiva idol is
of three forms in this temple
1.Lord Marundeeswarar,
2.Lord Theyagaraja ,
3.Lord Nataraja.
The Lord Theyagaraja and lord nataraja are the forms of Lord shiva but not in the type of Lingam.
